Our Beach Vacation

Erik posted our slideshow of pictures last week, but I never wrote a commentary to go with it. These were the highlights of the trip:

  • Getting to see lots of family!
  • The beach, of course--building sand castles, jumping waves, swimming with fish, looking for shells and soaking up the sun.
  • My brother-in-law's retirement. We enjoyed being there to celebrate with Dwayne as he retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service. We are proud of him!
  • My niece's birthday. She was thrilled to have Jackson and Isaac there to help her celebrate turning 6! Nicole is a sweetheart and we were all glad to meet her and spend time with her.
  • Late night conversations with cousins at the beach house.
  • Driving to church with my sister and having a chance to talk with her about God's work in her life and Erik having a chance to talk to Dwayne about similar stuff!

On the last day of the trip Jackson got sick and was a very difficult patient, but gratefully he recovered by the next morning when we had to fly home. I can only imagine how difficult it would have been to travel with a puking, screaming kid! Thank you, God! We returned home from our trip completely exhausted, but happy.
