Too Many Goodbyes

I hate saying goodbye. And over the years there have been too many "goodbyes" for my liking. There have been some final goodbyes and there have been many "see ya later's." But I really don't like any of them.

This summer we will be saying goodbye yet again to some people who are important to us. Our friends, the Taggarts, will be moving back to their home state of Arkansas in a couple weeks, followed in August by our friend Rommel who is moving to Virginia. The Taggarts have only been here in CO for a short time, but I have felt privileged to know them. Sandy (the mom of the bunch) is an amazing woman and I felt a neat connection with her from the moment I met her. I'm thankful for the ways she has challenged me and taught me so much about raising kids (she has 9 of them) and loving people (which flows so naturally from her). I wish I had more time to get to know the Taggarts and enjoy their friendship. So I pray God's protection and providence on their journey home, while I anxiously await the day when we will rejoice together in heaven. For some reason I don't have a digital photo of the Taggarts...I'll have to remedy that. In the meantime, you can visit Sandy's blog to see this beautiful family.

Our friend Rommel (who is moving to VA for a job) is not really just a friend--he's family. See the picture below...doesn't he look like he belongs in our family? :) He's "uncle" to our kids and will always be an imporant part of our lives. So why is it still hard to let him go?! He promises he'll be back for frequent visits and the plan is for him to only stay away for a year. But a year is a long time and we will miss him. I pray God's blessings on your journey, my friend. Learn, grow, have fun, and then come back to us!
