- Eating out only once or twice a month as a family intead of once or twice a week.
- Homemade bread (at least a loaf a week...that's as much as I can do so far!)
- More homemade everything (beans, pizza, soup, lunch meat, spaghetti sauce, etc.) Turns out it's way yummier to be frugal!
- Coupon use ramped up and gift cards used creatively
- Much fewer "just because" purchases at the grocery store (and everywhere for that matter)
- Creative use of leftovers
- No more eating out for lunch (Erik used to eat out almost every day)
- Making creative heartfelt gifts that cost a little instead of grandiose useless gifts that cost a lot.
- Not giving up on giving...that may sound like it's not a way to be frugal but it is. God blesses it more than I would have ever guessed.
So what tips do you have on being frugal? What has worked for your family? I'd love more ideas!

Great ideas!
I love your new template.
Do you have a breadmaker? If so, making homemade bread is a whole lot easier. Just stick in the ingredients and in 3 hours, wa-la, warm, yummy homemade bread.
I have switched to using cash for things I tend to go over budget on easily, such as groceries or eating out. I have had to be creative with how I use it as I have to make it last a whole month. It's also nice to not have money coming out of the account weekly.
Thanks, Sandy. I needed to do something different. I like this one.
I don't have a breadmaker because I gave it away a couple years ago. I'm mad at myself now that I gave it away and just need to go look at garage sales or thrift stores to find another one. My mom used to use cash for groceries too. I think it's a good idea, except that we get rewards on our MC for all our purchases...so we end up saving money by using a credit card!
Do you have a slow cooker? I discovered a cookbook recently that has some great ideas. I don't own the book, but I checked it out from the library. And there is a blog, too. I think all the recipes (and more, plus pictures) are there. The book is called Make it Fast, Cook it Slow. And the blog is http://www.crockpot365.blogspot.com/
The blog post from 1/11 is a trick that I use all the time -- with chicken, pork loin, chuck roast etc. Buy it on sale, cook it in the crockpot, then shred and freeze for later recipes. Cost savings + time savings!
